Chiang Mai

Tuesday was our first full day in Chiang Mai. We slept in and stayed in until lunchtime since our previous day's train ride had been so long. Anyways, we went out to find something to eat because the restaurant in our hotel was closed for the day due to construction of a pool and fitness center outside. After a short walk, we found a Mexican restaurant and what a find it was. As it turns out, the place serves some of the best Mexican food either of us has ever had.

That afternoon we tried to set up an evening activity. We were disappointed to find the Simon Cabaret (a lady boy/transvestite/drag queen show) to no longer be in business. We thought about doing an evening culinary class, but chose to schedule a full day course for Saturday after our trek. So...we just decided to go to the night bizarre rather than schedule anything in particular.

The Night Bizarre turned out to be a real gem!!! Again, we found hundreds of booths selling all kinds of items and food, but in Chiang Mai its at night and not nearly as large as the Chatuchak Weekend Market in Bangkok. So, it was far more comfortable and way less crowded. We spent a couple hours buying this and that and wandering amongst the numerous vendors.

We went to bed that night anxious about the jungle trek ahead of us.
