Saturday, May 5th was Thai cooking class day. Thelma and I were picked up and taken to the cooking school mid morning. First, we met up with our cooking classmates. They were a fun mother daughter couple. The mother was Japanese and the daughter was Canadian/Japanese. Anyways, we met up, selected the dishes that we wanted to make, and started the day.
First, we went to the local market to learn about and collect the items we needed to make our dishes. It was really interesting to walk through the market with someone to explain what everything was and how to use it. After the market, it was back to the kitchen! We signed up for the full day course which includes 6 dishes, a cookbook, and a certificate of completion. Awesome right? It totally was. We chopped, ground, mashed, sauteed, and mixed our way through 6 dishes a piece. The best part was getting to sit down and eat our creations. Thai food is sooooo good. They took us home once we were finished. The whole day was less than $30 a person. Amazing.
That night went back to the night bizarre to buy the last of our gifts and souvenirs.
It was a great day of food and fun.
